The mix of reggaeton with pop music not only brought attention back to this genre but it also brought attention to Latin music as a whole. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish tracks in 2016 and two songs in 2015. At the peak of Despacito's popularity, however 19 predominantly Spanish tracks made the top 100, and in 2020 there were 41 such songs. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017 and soon after the most well-known artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny for the production of MIA (2018) as well as Madonna collaborated on Medellin with Maluma (2019). In the year 2020, some Reggaeton musicians were complaining about the advancing of the genre towards the mainstream. However, a younger generation like Rauw Alejandro was determined to maintain the development. It was often associated with electronic dance, as well as other forms.
